Training Programmes

A.The field of Education is dynamic and is constantly undergoing changes. With child- centered education being the focus of attention, it calls for periodic training programmes for teachers. Every year the teachers attend In- service Course in two spells, once in the Summer Vacation for twelve days and then in the Winter break for ten days. The I Spell of  Inservice course for this academic year was held at KV RWF in May 2015.

B.Apart from this, regular short duration workshops are held at KVS ZIET, Mysore and other Kendriya Vidyalayas  to keep the teachers abreast of the latest trends in the field of education. The following courses were attended by the PRTs in 2015:

1. Workshop on Classroom Strategies for managing diversity
2.Effective Integrated teaching in classes I &II

C.The year 2014 brought in a certificate course for Primary Teachers across the country, namely the CPPDPT.The Certificate Programme for Professional Development of KVS teachers  in collaboration with IGNOU was planned to renew teachers' awareness on emerging issues and concerns related to school education, and update and upgrade their content and pedagogical skills. The course  is of immense significance in view of the importance of teacher training in the light of the Right of Education Act.

The training focusses on content upgradation of teachers with respect to their own special subject areas. It also involves in-depth training on new knowledge and its relevance to their work. Teachers would relearn new and innovative classroom management techniques and strategies for improving quality of teaching.

Teachers in the emerging context are required to acquire new knowledge and skills and develop them continuously. They are also expected to unlearn their existing practices and re-learn the practices which may help them to become the facilitators of learning. Professional development of teachers on a continuous basis, is therefore the only way to provide necessary orientation and expose teachers to the range of skills and activities which impact upon quality classroom transactions.

The methodologies for the training programme includes face to face interaction, self learning, audio-video support,  self-learning printed course material packages, assignment for assessment and feedback, practicals at designated institutions etc.

Furthermore, the teachers  undergo an evaluation. Certificates upon completion of programme are provided by IGNOU.
